I L-R: Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen; Kristen Dunst in Christian Dior Couture; Bella Hadid in Roberto Cavalli.
I love the Cannes Film Festival, it's always so glamorous and chic. I wish I was onboard a yacht with Leo DiCaprio, sipping champagne and sunbathing in the South of France. Alas, I will have to just make do with swooning over all the red carpet gowns.
I picked up this book, on a whim at my local library the other week. Not going to lie, I am a sucker for a good cover and this one really called to me. Luckily, the book lived up to the cover and I really loved the story and found myself staying up late to keep reading, which is always a good sign! The story is set at an American high school and follows a cheerleading squad and the dynamic friendship between captain Beth, her sidekick and narrator Addy and their new mysterious Coach. I love a dark, teenage drama as there is something eerie about adolescent girl friendships, perfectly summed up by the author "there's something dangerous about the boredom of teenage girls" which is so true with this story.
Tad late in uploading my monthly goals for May - sorry 'bout it. May seems to have seriously crept up on me and we are practically half way through the month already! 2016 doesn't hang around let me tell ya. So here is another brief round up of what I am working on in the sunny month of May.
It's the end of the month again (already) so that means it's time for my monthly favourites post. This month was a bit tricky as I haven't been buying much lately but alas I pulled through and have some things to share with you that I have been loving in April.
I am back with the first outfit post in lord knows how long. Let's all take this moment to thank my very patient little brother for being my blog photographer - Jack you are a wee darling. Anyway, I have been buying a few pieces for Spring and thought I would share them on here because why the hell not!
Brace yourself for a series of awkward posing from me, I never know what you do with my hands!
Who doesn't love a little Lush appreciation post? So here is another one and this time, it's dedicated to my all time favourite Lush product 'The Comforter' Bubble Bar (If I could insert the heart eyes emoji here I would).
Going out for dinner is genuinely one of my favourite things to do and Glasgow has SO many amazing restaurants, seriously we are spoiled for choice. A recent and unique restaurant experience I had, was at the Glasgow Restaurant Festival. A pop-up restaurant in a giant tent with serious circus vibes? I am down for that any day of the week. Every night a new established Glasgow restaurant takes over the kitchen - such a cool idea!
I am so glad that H&M Beauty has launched in Glasgow, well great for my beauty needs but not so great for my bank account. In saying that, prices do start at just £2.99 so I can't do too much damage to my bank account... With a range of over 300 items across make-up, nails, hair care and beauty tools there really is something for everyone and every budget. I only own the above 8 items but I have my eye on a hell of a lot more.
All items from H&M, New Look, Topshop and Whistles
I love the idea of a seasonal capsule wardrobe. It means a more fine tuned closet, filled with items you love and that can be worn in multiple ways. Basically, so we no longer need to stare into our wardrobes and say the dreaded "I have nothing to wear". So here are my dream items I am lusting after for Spring which can all be worn interchangeably. I mean off the top of my head I can style at least 15 plus outfits just using those 11 items above and you can too! It's all about choosing items that can be mixed and matched and complement other staples already in your wardrobe.
I am so excited it's April not only as Winter is finally over but it's also my birthday month. Last year I celebrated my birthday in Melbourne and this year I am heading down to London to spend a long and fabulous weekend with my best friend. The only thing I am slightly freaking out about is the fact I am turning 24, that means I am in my mid-20s and I still feel like that awkward 19-year-old girl - where has the time gone?! Here's some of the little goals I want to try to tackle this month.
I have been dying to try this bath bomb for forever as it's all over my Instagram feed, and now I can totally see why - it's so cool! Walking into Lush is always dangerous as I never leave without buying at least one thing. I was in to replace my beloved Comforter Bubble Bar and spotted this bath bomb, which is usually out of stock in my local Lush store, so naturally I snapped it up in a hot minute.
I swear I say this at the end of every month but HOW IS MARCH OVER ALREADY?! March has been a typically busy month again what with job hunting and keeping this corner of the internet and my social media outlets updated. Keep reading to see why all of the above made it into my favourites this month.
All items from H&M Home, Oliver Bonas, M&S and Tiger
Spring has finally sprung! It's one of my favourite seasons as my birthday is in April, the days are lighter for longer and the weather is marginally better in Scotland (that's saying something). I am a huge lover of all things homeware. I cannot wait to have a place of my own to decorate to my hearts content. For now, I am happy with adding bits and pieces to my little room to spruce it up. I will definitely be incorporating some of these items into my bedroom to step into Spring.
I have fallen head over heels in love with H&M's new Spring Collection. I was in Edinburgh the other day, having a browse around Princes Street and this collection was featured in the window so it immediately caught my eye. It really was love at first sight!
Been a while since I set myself some monthly goals because I have been hella busy. Now I know people use this as an excuse a lot to not blog, especially me but in the space of a month I have been to Bali for my first ever solo holiday, flew back to Melbourne to say my goodbyes to my Aussie family, then flew to Dubai to have a girls trip with my Mum and then flew back home to Scotland where I have been frantically meeting up with all my loved ones. So yeah busy bee me, today has been the first proper day I have had to sit down and get shit done so I am embracing this moment by having a laptop day and drinking all the coffee.
Award season is upon us. I love this time of year as it connects my two favourite things; fashion and film. Not going to lie I rarely watch the award show as it is usually like 4 hours long, kind of dull and hard to watch if you aren't in America. Luckily the internet is all over that shit and we can watch red carpet highlights - yay for internet. Pretty pleased with the winners on the night especially for Leonardo Dicaprio, hopefully, this means the boy might finally win an Oscar! Also a notable mention for Jon Hamm who did amazing work on the last season of Mad Men, if you haven't watched it yet all 7 seasons are on Netflix so drop everything and get on with it. Keep reading to see what my favourite looks were on the night.
I am a big fan of making a bucket lists, I made a huge life bucket list on one of the many long haul flights I took last year travelling. So for 2016 I thought it was only fair I created a mini bucket list of what I would like to tick off over the next 366 days (gotta love a leap year).
I am not a huge fan of making New Year's Resolutions as I usually fail miserably by about mid-January if not earlier... January is such a depressing month as it is so why put so much pressure on ourselves to become this whole new, better, thinner person? Let's give poor old January a break and set ourselves some mini goals to work on throughout the year. I am an avid list maker and love setting monthly goals to work towards so this month is no different.
Sorry, I have been majorly MIA on the blogging front, I went on holiday with my Aussie family and was both laptopless and wifi-less. I had an amazing bizarre hot Melbourne Christmas then flew up to Port Douglas for a week of sunbathing, swimming and relaxing with my faves.
